Poor Benny 😢
@Kenya_1979 Once the rain stopped, I took him on a real walk, so he was happy. :-)
Miss the Hogs! Next year fo sho
let’s do it!
Dirt looks epic! I'll get out there with you this week 👍
Rained a lot last night! Dirt should be amazing later this week. Text me when you want to ride!
Love that the videos are back!
Trying to make them more regularly this year. I need to venture out more and start riding difference trails.
Nice work on 765 buddy 🤙
Finally got some good rain, hopefully I can make more progress this week!
That hub is singing 😂
When I first heard the audio, was questioning if I should have gotten the silent Onyx hub instead of the Hydra, but maybe the singing adds personality to the video? 😂
Great trail ride Luke! Glad to see you posting again. 😃
Thanks! Trying to get back into groove!
I miss these videos, Luke!
@@Shoeless_DA I got a Black Friday deal on a new camera. Plan to make a comeback!
Great shoes🏴✌
I live in Riverside but just got a Job for an insurance company in Chula Vista and trying to move down there. Where do I park for this? I ride local mostly but now want to come
Been awhile since I’ve been there, but I usually park here. PQ Falls Trail goo.gl/maps/nTbLAasevNWNq6vh7 I’ve also parked here before: Ram Ranch West Trailhead goo.gl/maps/8y7ithfwDaVq5XWf7
Thinking about going where do you park?

Excellent video as usual brother. Glad to see you and the fellas enjoying the trails and festival. And excellent Jenga skills while having a few, and talking to Kenya-Benya! Once again, keep up the excellent work!
Excellent video bro! There were a few times I thought you would be eating rocks, especially after some of those sharp twisty turns, or rough narrow downhill paths. But no, you powered through like a champ. Keep up the great work and be safe while doing it.
Thanks! Yeah this trail was fun, but had some technical spots. Glad we survived, ready for the next challenge.
Beautiful vistas! Great ride Luke! Miss you guys and my little buddies too.
Sedona is magical. You have to see it in person to fully appreciate it. Benny and Manny miss you!
That's pretty cool mate ! 😄
Dude 3 months we do it all again!
Yeah, can’t wait! Need to get in shape for it!
haha, I was looking for an actual secret trail. This is funny how NOT secret this one is!
Ha ha, sorry for the clickbait title, but couldn’t resist on this trail. I’m gonna have to make an update video, a couple new offshoots from ridgeline.
I made those in my moms Mercedes in 1985 and NASCAR on my ATC 90
Back in 85? Crazy, would love to see what this place looked like back then.
That's a forest compared to what those trails look like today 🏜️
We rode there about a month ago, couldn’t believe how low the water was.
I can’t find this. Off Del Dios HWY?
Yeah, multiple places to park along Del Dios. If you need more info let me know,
That's how I look at it too - for longer rides, I'll use a backpack, for shorter rides, a fanny pack. I have yet a third option, which is a Fitly Minimalist Backpack. It's basically a tiny backpack, and I throw my keys, wallet, and phone in there so they're not jiggling in my pockets. I hardly notice it's there when I wear it. Worth a look exploring, I think there's now a whole category of backpacks that size now. One thing is that if you've been riding with a fanny pack for a long time, it feels weird or noticeable when you're not wearing one lol Not so much with the backpack, maybe because I don't use one that often.
Lately I’ve been using a smaller fanny pack along with a water bottle on the bike.
@@lukerutherford Nice, yeah especially when the weather is hotter, full backpacks can get hot
5:26 - You're not the only one who had trouble there, those bushes to the right are always smashed in from riders falling including me.
Hopefully the fall wasn’t too bad. Yeah that’s a tricky corner.
I haven't ridden that section years, but I am definitely going back. Thanks
You didn't want to take on Hiltler's Ballsack @ 4:00?
Ha ha, wasn't quite ready for Hitler's Ballsack when I made this video. I've done it a few times now, much better after a light rain.
Nice work. Editing is excellent.
Hey Luke , nice video and riding man :)
Thanks! I see you make videos too, I'll check out your channel.
Nice! What is the song at 8:30? Thanks
Thanks! I can't remember what the song is, either one provided by apple or a free one from youtube.
Do you have the route on strava? I live in san marcos and would like to explore something other than lake hodges.
Looks like you found me on Strava, were you able to find the route?
Yeeeah Luke! Great video. Liked and subbed. I'm an adaptive rider in San Diego. Let's do a video together!
Hi thanks for the video. Where is that trailhead located at?

Had it all to yourself! Thanks for sharing. The wind is what makes it worse.
Happy to see another video!
Nice! Cool to see you watch them. Hope all is going well at SDSU. Bummer we can't all get together at Thanksgiving.
Looks like a spectacular Sedona day
It was, beautiful weather, nice ride, great day! 👍
Typical boring SD mountain biking
Boring? Go ride it and we'll see about that
@@Gizzywizzy4 I mean he's not entirely wrong. Hodges is one of the more tame and "boring" areas to mtb especially if you're intermediate and up.
True. Please help us find better spots in SD!
Hernandez Hideaway sucks so bad BTW.
lol, love the comments. Hodges isn’t crazy, but I wouldn’t call it boring.
Is that the 2018 Bronson Carbon S 2.1? Nice video man, love that trail except for the low branches.
Yeah it’s the 2018 Bronson C S build. Love it.
this is sick! im thinking about doing this trail soon so seing a video really helped bring up my confidence
Nice! Let me know how it goes. La Costa is always fun and challenging.
Can't wait for cooler weather and this greenery!
evolusd seriously, so tired of this heat. Bummed I missed the ride this morning, next time!
Bummer re: spoke. I admire all the climbing you did.
Kit Cleary The La Costa climb never gets easier. I do find that I gradually get faster and have to walk less though.
@@lukerutherford yes sometimes it does astonish one. I did a climate Lake Hodges yesterday with no stops did I typically have to stop at. It's the one coming back up from the whoop's to the upper Trail. It's given me an over-exaggerated sense of my own powers
As far as I know, Deer Canyon is the only way out without getting on the 56, but I could be wrong. Oh, and my dog is named Benny as well (not the one in the pic -- that's Gus.) Benny is a black tri Australian Shepherd.
Kit Cleary I rode tunnels again a month ago. We did tunnels down, then switchbacks up. Seems to be the common way to go now. We also rode a couple of the closed off tunnels (Don’t tell anyone...)
@@lukerutherford my lips are sealed. I also don't suggest to people that they might twice switchbacks down during the week when there's less traffic because just because.
Cool video man🤘can't wait to go back next year
Nice ride bro! ☝️👌
DavMTB5 thanks! I gotta get back there once it cools down. Been super hot in San Diego the last month.
LR Bikes I bet, it’s always tough riding in the heat.
Is this trail part of the peñasquitos canyon preserve?
Ray Sprakz not quite sure what all the penasquitos canyon preserve covers, but here’s a link to it on trail forks. www.trailforks.com/trails/tunnel-4/
I also did a video of tunnel 4 with my buddies. its such a good trail
nice! I’ll check it out.

Thanks! I’ll check out your channel. I see you have a lot of videos, been wanting to ride in Colorado.
Thanks, very informative!
Thanks! I’ve actually been riding my flat pedals lately. I’ll have to do a video update with some more thoughts.
Looks fun!
We had a great time. A good group of guys to ride with and the trails were awesome.
Cool video man. Great time. Gotta head back up there soon!
monroe12478 yeah definitely! Great ride.
Thanks for sharing! What was the rating of these trails?
here’s a link with ratings people gave it. Overall I felt very comfortable on the trail. I had to walk a few of the technical sections on some of the climbs though. www.mtbproject.com/trail/808937/camp-tamarancho-loop
From the looks of it I live one street up from you. Looks like you started on the Gnatcatcher at the start of the video. Do you just ride the rode up Double Peak to the start of The Secret Trail?
Joshua Buchan Nice, we should ride when I’m able to ride again. I fell a couple weeks ago and messed up my finger. I went to Dr. last week and turns out it’s fractured so I’m out of commission for a bit. Most of the time I take the first part of gnatcatcher for the start, but cut left through Atherton (don’t do the full gnatcatcher). Then I walk up stairs to cut to double peak. I find it’s a good little warm up.
